The bible book of TCM has mentioned : ”阳气者,若天与日,失其所,则折寿而不彰”.
It means the energy of “Yang” is like the sun. If sun has lost the ability to shine on the earth, all the creatures on the earth could hardly survive. Similarly, when the energy of “Yang” has lost the ability to work in the body, we are likely to fall sick.
If we are lack of the energy of “Yang”, we termed as weak energy of “Yang” or “Yang” deficiency. Symptoms of “Yang” deficiency are for example: chilled by coldness, cold hands and feet, fatigue etc. After some time, our body changed to become a chilled type, we start to see some ailments such as arthritic disease, sarcoidosis symptoms, cystic disease.
Among the many choices of herbal Chinese medicines, we are going to introduce this medicine to replenish the energy of “Yang”, it is called Cinnamon.
Cinnamon is very common used in our daily life. Some of us might have tasted the cinnamon soup or cinnamon tea, or even cooking rice. Cinnamon properties are spicy-sweet and hot. It has the ability to warm and block cold hence improving circulation in the meridians and warming the body. Cinnamon enters channels in the body and well suited for chronic cold conditions to remove obstructions of cold and dampness in the body.
People in the group with chronic cold conditions that result in debility are categorized as “Yang” deficiency. They have cold hands and feet, in additional they look like chronic digestive insufficiency. Clinically, this can present as an aversion to cold, always feel stomach cold and dare not take cold food, once taken cold food they will have diarrhea with undigested food in the stool. Hence, we need to heal the “Yang” deficiency, essentially the digestive system in the stomach.
Liquid circulation in the body has relied on the mobilization of the energy of “Yang”. If there is “Yang” deficiency in the body, the liquid circulation is not “lifted” properly hence liquid accumulated and forming the phlegm or mucus. We could mix cinnamon decoction with other herb to deform the phlegm or mucus.
Similarly, blood circulation has also relied on the mobilization of the energy of “Yang”. As mentioned in the theory of TCM, when condition is warmed, the blood flow is smooth; when condition is cold, the blood flow is coagulated. The blood flow acts similar like river water. When condition is warmed, the blood flow is moving smoothly as normal, when condition turned cold, the blood flow is coagulated hence blood clot formed consequently.
We may fine tune the body by taking a balancing diet. Today, we are going to introduce the food dietotherapy by taking cinnamon as the fitness regimen.
