mentioned that we as human being, born in between heaven and earth and we live our lifestyle ways to suit the nature of earth;
as a result we could stay safely and maintain a good health.
In Malaysia, we have two seasons, the drought seasons and raining seasons. Now we are in the end of the year, and it rains almost every day, the weather getting cooler than normal days.
If we caught by rain drops or caught a chill in the cold weather, we could easily catch the flu. Similarly, in the four seasons countries, they were experiencing the changes of season from autumn to winter and the weather getting chill gradually. They have more changes than us because they have the chances to experience spring, summer, and autumn as well as winter in a year. The folks said the cultivation of meal habits to suit the four seasons. During spring, we eat sprout vegetables; during summer, we eat leaves vegetables; during autumn, we eat fruits; during winter, we eat root vegetables.
Hence, today we will discuss about eating root vegetables during winter, or in another words the cold weather in the end of the year.
During this season, the Qi of Yang pulls back, causing a slower metabolism. The substances of nutrition hardly out flow and kept in the cells, so our body could easily absorb the nutrition, we treat it as winter dietary supplementation.
Root vegetables contain the most storage energy during the winter season. We termed as “hibernation stage in the winter” and its purpose is to expose the blasting energy when season changed in the spring. Winter season is the best season to have a good rest, taking tonic food and medicine, the best part are root vegetables, help to restore energy.
Today I am here to recommend a series of root vegetables for supplementation during the end of the year:
1. Chinese Yam
Chinese Yam nourishes our digestive system and strengthening kidney functions as well. This food is good for some of us who have frequent night hours urination, poor eyesight and male nocturnal emission symptoms.
2. White radish
Eat raw white radish help moistening the lung and clearing the heaty phlegm. Eat cooked white radish help eliminate indigestion and nourish the digestion system in order to promote fluid production.
3. Lotus root
Eat raw lotus root help clearing away heat; promote fluid production and cooling the heat blood flow. Eat cooked lotus root help improving the appetite and provide blood supplementation in heart blood circulation.
4. Bamboo shoots
From the perspective of nutritional science, bamboo shoots contain 3 low 1 high nutrition unique traits. It includes low calories, low fats, low sugar and high dietary fibre.
5. Taro
Taro helps enhancing the digestive system and improving the intestine movement. If we overeat taro, we will easily get bloated stomach and diarrhea. We do not encourage people to eat raw taro as it causes allergy issues to the body.
6. Sweet potato
Sweet potato helps invigorate the digestive system, strengthening the functionality of digestive system and tonifying blood circulation.
7. Potato
Potato is neutral in nature; it tasted sweet and tonifying stomach and helping improve the digestive system functionality. Besides, it also helps intestinal movement to prevent constipation.
