Usually when approaching November, the four seasons countries will enter winter as weather getting lower and chill. If we have a lower immunity system, we easily fall sick. In Malaysia, this season belong to infectious disease period and high risk for flu. Besides, due to the northeast monsoon seasons, it is raining most of the time and hence we need a good immunity system to prevent ourselves from sickness attack.

As a introduction, the immune system protects our body from outside invaders. These include germs such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, and toxins etc.
For example:
- Slow recovery of wound and inflammation.

- Perspiration heavily regardless of the weather.

- Indigestion problem and easily get diarrhea.

- Frequently get sick.

- Long term fatigue problem.

- Frequent mouth ulcers.

We analyse that the unhealthy lifestyles will reduce the immunity system.
- Lack of sleep or late sleep.
- Lack of exercise.
- Over exchausted.
- Lack of drinking water.
- Passive smoking.
- Malnutrition.
- Depression.
From TCM perspective, how are we going to boost up the immunity system in the body?
As per written in the Medicine Bible “Huang Di Nei Jing” 《黄帝内经》,if we maintain a good stamina internally, the outside invader such as bacteria or virus will hardly attack the body.
Given below are some tips to maintain a healthy habit in our lifestyle.
- Conform to our environment and weather.

- Firstly, adjust our lifestyles to follow convention according the changes of four seasons.
- Secondly, maintain a regular lifestyle to follow convention according to the cycle time of internal organs.
- Adjusting our emotion from time to time.

- Over emotional feeling will cause blockage of “Qi” circulation.
- Adjusting our daily diet.
It can be interpreted in three aspects:
- Firstly, control diet. Not taken more than enough or overeating.

- Secondly, control the timing of diet. Regular diet is good and amount of food taken should be regular.

Thirdly, eat food harvested according to the season such as seasonal fruits.
- Exercise regularly.

Choose an exercise that suitable for ourselves. Exercise will help relax our mind and strengthen the body, hence boost up the immunity system. We can do exercise that emphasize breathing inhale, exhale, and calm down the mind gradually.
- Massage acupuncture points.

From the perspective of five organs, we choose some points that benefit the condition of the body.
Heart – Neiguan (Point PC6)
Kidney – Taixi (Point KD3)
Head – Hegu (Point LI4)
Lung – Yuji (Point LU10)
Spleen & Stomach – Zusanli (Point ST36)
Reproductive System – Guanyuan (Point RN4)
Digestive System – Zhongwan (Point RN12)
- Moxibustion

Moxibustion main remedy is for joint or muscle pain. By heating up the acupuncture point, strengthen the blood and lymph circulation, indirectly activate and then boost up the immunity system. Before moxibustion, it is highly advise to drink sufficient water. Not advisable to do moxibustion after food with full stomach, right after shower or heavy sweating. Each session takes about 15-30 minutes. Better to get advice from respective TCM practitioner for the acupuncture points.
